Flexibility
The individual units can be linked in any combination according to the project requirements, and synchronised steering and lifting of all transportation units integrated within the vehicle group provides exceptional manoeuvrability.
The electronically controlled multi-directional steering technology ensures that the combinations are flexible and adaptable.
Operations
The operations of the company cover management, engineering, provision & operation of equipment for transporting of heavy loads. For each specific project an installation manual is prepared incorporating all the necessary areas to safely and efficiently complete the services undertaken by the company.
About Us
Titan Heavy Transport (UK) Limited (Titan) specialises in movement of heavy loads using multi-wheeled Self Propelled Modular Transporter trailers (SPMTs) and other equipment as required by major construction projects. The company was formed in 2010 but grew out of the transport and maintenance division of the Swan Hunter shipyard in Newcastle upon Tyne which had been active in shipbuilding and offshore oil & gas construction for a decade previously. The managment and staff of Titan were previously responsible for all yard movements of heavy units and ship sections over a period of more than 10 years using the equipment currently operating within the company.
The company operates mainly in the offshore oil & gas and civil construction arenas and is responsible generally for the transportation phases of projects and for the most part operates under a subcontract arrangement to main contractors. Therefore, the organisation is based upon a very efficient multi-discipline arrangement with short lines of communication and delegated responsibility.
Equipment
The company operates a fleet of KAMAG SPMTs and other associated lifting equipment, details of which can be found in our Titan company brochure. These units generally come in six axle units with dimensions of approx. 8.5m x 2.4m x 1.15m height and a self weight of approx 24 tons. The exact number and arrangement of trailers will vary depending upon project requirements and full details will be provided in the project installation manual.
The SPMT units are normally delivered to the site using conventional road legal flat bed trailers and the client or site operator will be required to provide craneage for offloading and assembly. Titan will provide rigging drawings, weights and dimensions for the Client to safely provide lifting slings and offloading craneage which shall be documented in the installation manual.
